Have you noticed all the amazing new lighting options showing up in home stores? There are so many gorgeous choices available that it’s almost impossible to choose just one. Desk lamps however have not really excited me as much as all the statement chandeliers and pendants…… that is until I saw this beauty at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show.
Created by David D’Imperio and called the Diatom, it is made with stainless steel, aluminum and powder coating. It is from a signed, limited addition of ten and is a sculptural work of art that just happens to be a light. Boy do I ever wish I was one of the lucky ten to have this light on my desk.
You can check out more of David D’Imperio’s work HERE.
A fun side note. I didn’t know this lamp was called the Diatom until I researched it to write this post. Before I was into Design, my first area of study was marine biology and I spent three Summers doing intensive studies of the diatoms (phytoplankton) in the waters off Nantucket Island. When I saw this light it was almost as if it was calling out to me. Now I know why.
Have a great weekend everyone. It is suppose to hit 60 in Boston today so everyone’s mood is starting to brighten.
