A few days before I left for BlogTourKBIS courtesy of Modenus and our nine generous sponsors, I attended a “What’s On Tap” event at a local bath showroom, Designer Bath. It was a fun night of networking and learning about the latest new products from several of their vendors.

The Representative for TOTO opened his presentation by declaring “I haven’t used toilet paper in over two years”huh??? His next statement was equally as puzzling when he followed up by adding, “I also haven’t clean my toilet in over two years”....WHAAAT????  Okay, now he had my attention.

I admit, I was a little creeped out about the no toilet paper (I couldn’t stop looking at the rep and thinking of that TMI)  but no toilet bowl cleaning? Please do tell!

The toilet the TOTO rep was referring to is so new to market that there wasn’t one on display, so imagine my excitement when I got to see this amazing toilet in person at KBIS2016 while on BlogTour.

NEOREST 750H

Here it is! The NEOREST 750H. This baby is the big Mack Daddy of toilets. Why is it so special? Well imagine this if you will.

The seat lifts as you approach the bowl. It remembers if you are a he or a she so either the lid or the lid and seat will lift. You sit down to a heated seat that you have pre-programmed to your preferred comfort temperature. You do your thing and then warm aerated water (again, set to your comfort preference) washes you until you are squeaky clean. But wait, there is more! A warm air dryer finishes the cleansing task so that explains why no toilet paper is ever needed.

But wait, there’s still more! You walk away as the toilet auto flushes and closes. As if that isn’t enough to have you running to buy this toilet for yourself or for your clients, it also has an in-bowl catalytic deodorizer (prevents odors) as well as energy and water saving features.

For someone like myself who spends part of just about every weekend cleaning toilets, the self cleaning feature is what I am most excited about. There are two components to this feature and both are technical sounding but trust me, you rarely if ever have to clean this toilet. If you really want to understand why though, here is how TOTO explains it.

“The ultra high-efficiency NEOREST 750H introduces the most complete bowl cleansing system available by synergizing TOTO’s patented flushing and cleansing technologies to effectively rid the bowl of both visible and invisible waste. This advanced cleansing system starts with TOTO’s eWater+ technology. Using the incoming water supply, a pre-mist wets the bowl’s surface preventing waste’s adherence 80% better than a dry bowl. After each flush, TOTO’s eWater+ mists the bowl with electrolyzed water, which has a slightly acidic pH value, keeping the bowl fresh and clean longer. Next, the NEOREST 750H’s bowl is glazed with TOTO’s HYDROTECT titanium dioxide coating and zirconium, giving it a lovely iridescent, mother-of-pearl sensibility. Extremely hydrophilic, HYDROTECT makes it nearly impossible for organic substances to adhere to the bowl’s surface — enabling waste, lime scale, and mold to wash away with ease. Further, when combined with sunlight, HYDROTECT triggers a photocatalytic process in which organic substances are broken down. To achieve this, TOTO integrated a UV light in the seat lid that is activated when the lid is closed. Once the UV light hits the HYDROTECT’s titanium dioxide coating on the toilet’s bowl”.

Alrighty then, got that?

Now I know what you are all thinking. This toilet must cost a gazillion dollars. Well it is an investment but think about this. For baby boomers who want to age in place, for the elderly who do not want to go into a nursing home or for anyone who has a disability, a breakdown of proper hygiene is the number one reason why they are placed into a care facility. However, having this most important part of hygiene taken care of can extend someones ability to stay in their own home. Since the national average for a full care facility is $60,000 a year, the NOEREST toilet can mean the savings of tens of thousand of dollars which makes the cost of the toilet look like a bargain.

Now I know a toilet is not the most glamorous thing to blog about but honestly, I am very excited about this product.
