How we work for Full Service Design
Full service design, whether for a room or an entire home, involves juggling lots of balls, being organized and paying careful attention to detail. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes besides picking pretty fabrics and choosing coordinating colors. So that the process runs as smoothly as possible I have implemented eight steps so that my clients have a better understanding of how the design process works.
Step 1: THE GET ACQUAINTED CALL
This is where I listen to your needs and find out about the scope of your project. A series of questions are asked to make sure the project is a good fit for both parties.
Step 2: LIFE STYLE QUESTIONNAIRE
You will receive a life style/decorating questionnaire via email so that I have a head start on understanding your style before we meet in person.
Step 3: HOME CONSULT
I visit your home to access your current interior and discuss what changes and additions you are considering. This is an open sharing of ideas and concepts for the project. Client goals for the space as well as function, life style and colors are discussed. Magazine images or on line inspiration photos are reviewed and room measurements and photos are taken. A proposal will be sent 3-5 days after the consult as to the design fee that will be required to complete the project.
Step 4: SIGNING OF AGREEMENT AND DEPOSIT
Once we decide to move forward a letter of agreement is signed between both parties outlining the scope of work and the agreed upon design fee.
Step 5: PERSONAL MOOD BOARD
Tying together all gathered information a personal mood board is created for the mutual sharing of ideas and inspiration. This will insure we are both on the same page as your design plan is created.
Step 6: DESIGN PLAN AND PRESENTATION
A custom design plan based on what I have learned from you as well as inspiration from your mood board will be presented to you at your home. Floor plans, furnishings, fabrics, colors and all other materials will be presented along with an estimate of expenses.
Step 7: IMPLEMENTATION
Once you approve the design, furnishings and materials are ordered and all painting, construction and other work is scheduled.
Step 8: INSTALLATION and ACCESSORIZING
The big day! Your new room is set up with carpet, furniture, lighting and window treatments are installed. A room isn’t complete until it’s been accessorized and filled with things that mean something to you. I will install this final layer to create a space that’s personal and completely “you.” The room is then ready for the big reveal!
