This was a very fun project done for the hugely popular online design event called The One Room Challenge. I was chosen to create a temporary Pied-a-terre in an empty warehouse space on the fifth floor of the Boston Design Center. It was by far one of the most challenging projects I’ve done to date because I had very little control over what items went into the space.
As an interior designer in Andover, MA, I always start with a design plan. In this case I had to create the plan as I went. Sort of like the expression “building the plane as you fly it”. Different showrooms “donated” furniture and accessories for the project.
My job was to create a beautiful finished “pied-a-terre”, working with a mishmash of unrelated furniture, colors and styles. In the end it turned out fabulous and although the space was only temporary, the photos will live on forever.
