There aren’t enough adjectives to describe how beautiful it is today in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Crystal clear blue skies, no humidity and temps in low 70’s. In spite of that, all I can think of are my friends on the West coast and the horrific fires. My heart is breaking for what is happening. Please stay safe everyone.

Remembering this solemn day 19 years ago when over 3000 innocent people lost their lives. I was in my darkroom developing film when the voice on the radio said, “Stop what you are doing. If you are near a tv, turn it on”. I still get chills when I think about it. I watched the whole day unfold in shock. My kids were in school, and my husband was working in a high rise financial building in Boston. Rumors circulated that the building was a target and there was panic as everyone tried to get out at the same time. I think all of us that witnessed that day knew our world had changed forever.

Who else feels like the beach is their sacred place? Now that we have a “place” in NH, the weekends are spent there. It’s beautiful there but I’m seriously missing a good long walk on the beach. I need to just take off a day work and go before it gets too cold.
